Frequently Asked Questions

Please contact us at info@signaturecanvasmakers.com if you cannot find an answer to your specific question.

Due to increased demand and ongoing staffing challenges, our front office is currently open by appointment only.  At this time, we are not accepting walk-in visits or repair requests.  We appreciate your understanding and patience as we work to provide the best possible service during this period.  To schedule an appointment, please email us at info@signaturecanvasmakers.com.

Yes. We honor all manufacturer warranties for materials. In addition, we stand behind our craftsmanship with a one-year workmanship warranty, covering issues such as:

  • Snap or stitching failure
  • Wear holes in the canvas due to production issues

Not covered:

  • Storm or weather damage
  • Improper use or care
  • Damage from pests or accidents
  • Unauthorized modifications or repairs
  • Normal wear and tear

No. For the best fit and finish, we do not use old canvas as patterns. Over time, materials stretch and weather, which compromises accuracy. However, your existing canvas can be helpful for reference during quoting.

Yes, we offer complimentary quotes when provided with sufficient project details—typically clear photos of your boat and the work area.
Please note: During catastrophic weather events (when demand surges) or for insurance-related quotes, a $200 fee applies. This fee will be deducted from your invoice if you choose to work with us.

Lead times vary based on the type and scope of the project, as well as our current production schedule. They typically range from 4 to 16 weeks. A 50% deposit is required to confirm your place on the schedule and assign a completion date.

Producing premium canvas products involves skilled labor, precision tools, and high-quality materials. While materials account for about 20–30% of the total cost, our value lies in decades of experience, proven processes, and a talented team—from pattern installers to CAD designers to fabricators. We’re proud of the Signature CanvasMakers standard.

  • We use stainless steel snaps—superior to standard nickel-coated brass.
  • Polysulfide sealant is used when installing into fiberglass or wood to prevent leaks.
  • Tef-Gel anti-corrosion lubricant is used when installing into alloy to prevent      dissimilar metal corrosion.
  • In most cases, we replace all fasteners unless doing so may cause damage      (e.g., in wood or alloy).

We use SolarFix PTFE thread which is guaranteed to last the life of the fabric. Unlike standard poly thread, PTFE does not degrade under UV exposure—making it a durable, long-term investment.

Every frame is custom designed to fit your specific vessel and project requirements.
We fabricate with 316 Stainless Steel so our frames are built to last.

We’ll help guide you in selecting the best option for your project. We offer a range of premium clear products to meet your needs, including:

  • Makrolon®  – Rigid polycarbonate (.060 gauge)
  • EZ2CY® – Premium bonded acrylic (.080 gauge)

While we try to notify you in advance, timing is often dependent on weather and routing. In most cases, your presence is not required, and communication can be handled via phone, photos, or email. However, your input may be needed for specific elements like dodger frame placement. Please ensure:

  • We have access to the boat (provide codes, keys, etc.)
  • The area is free of obstructions
  • Let us know if the boat has been relocated
  • If the boat is on a lift, confirm we are permitted to operate it
  • Inform household occupants if your boat is behind a residence
  • Alert us to any pets on the property

Yes. We can provide CAD renderings for a $225 design fee, which covers approximately 1.5 hours of additional labor.

As with many skilled trades, final payment is due upon installation. Each project requires a significant investment in skilled labor and high-quality materials, which are procured in advance to ensure your order is completed efficiently and to the highest standard.

As a small business specializing in custom canvas fabrication, we operate with a strong commitment to craftsmanship, customer satisfaction, and attention to detail. Your prompt payment helps us maintain these standards and continue delivering exceptional results.

We stand behind our work, and if any concerns arise after installation, we are always happy to address them promptly.
